EnergyLink outfitted a cryptocurrency mining operation with a 500 kW ground mount solar array. The objective of the project was to allow the data center owners to more sustainably mine crypto. Benefits of the project include:

• Improved system uptime: With solar as a source of on-site power, the data center will maintain a high system uptime for its servers and endpoints. Additionally, it will allow them to mine cryptocurrency for longer periods of time.
• Efficient mining: Mining Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency takes a lot of bandwidth and power. Drawing solar power, which costs less than power supplied by the data center’s local utility grid, will drive mining costs down and increase the operation’s profitability.
• M&V reporting: Solar system performance will be tracked through measurement and verification protocols, with reports generated frequently to display system production, carbon offset, and economic results.
