Kansas City Power & Light offers various rebates that help Missouri business customers complete energy efficient projects. Business owners can save money by making efficient upgrades which yield daily energy savings. Such upgrades increase the bottom line and provide increased building comfort.
The goal of these rebates is to further incentivize going green in the Kansas City business community. Here is some information on the rebate programs KCP&L offers.
Standard Rebates
KCP&L standard rebates cover a wide range of equipment and facility upgrades, such as:
- Energy-efficient lighting and controls
- Refrigeration and food service
- Variable speed drive air compressors
Standard rebates do not require pre-approval, making the process easy. When the project is completed and your equipment is qualified for a rebate, your business can submit a Standard Application with supporting documentation. A standard rebate takes approximately 10 days for review and payment.
Customer Energy Rebates
KCP&L offers customer rebates to help business customers implement energy-saving solutions that meet the specific needs of every business. The earlier your business brings KCP&L into the project, the more your business can save with rebates.
Some examples of custom projects are:
- New construction
- Chiller systems
- Heating and cooling systems
- Compressed air upgrades
- Building controls
- Energy management systems
- Refrigeration projects
- Variable speed drives and pumps
Custom incentives pay a maximum of $0.40/kWh saved and a minimum of $0.06/kWh saved. The incentives are capped at 75% of the incremental project costs. Custom rebates require written pre-approval prior to the purchase and installation of equipment/materials. To learn more about the preapproval process click here.
Solar Rebate
The KCP&L Solar Power Rebate encourages the use of solar energy, which has a positive impact on the environment and the business. The payment of solar rebates is subject to a one-time program limit—this means the amount that KCP&L spends on rebates paid to solar customers cannot exceed $50 million in the KCP&L Great Missouri are or $36.5 million in the KCP&L Missouri area. To find out which area you live in click here.
Missouri law has established the amount per watt used to calculate rebate payments every year until 2020 (when the program will end). To learn more about the solar rebates see Missouri House Bill HB 142.
