India Expands Solar Park Program

India-Solar-Farm

2016 was the world’s biggest year for solar. Many people here, in the United States, have become increasingly more open to the idea of both renewable energy and solar.

Slowly renewable energy has increased in popularity and countries have started to create more sustainable energy plans for their future. Everyday we hear about new energy bills being passed or industry leading company who has adopted a more energy efficient system for their offices or buildings.

India’s solar park

India has become a world leader in renewable energy and solar in particular.

They already have one of the largest solar farms (648 MW) in the world and the government has just approved the projects second phase and given permission to double their capacity from 20 gigawatts to 40 gigawatts.

This is huge news in the renewable energy world.

India, who has over 1.2 billion people, is showing how much faith they have in renewable energy by expanding their already massive solar farm. India’s solar farm makes them one of the biggest solar power markets in the world.

They plan to power 60 million homes using the sun’s energy by the year 2022.
