The Department of Energy announced on September 22, 2022 that applications are open for a $7 billion funding program to create regional clean hydrogen hubs across the nation. Local communities will benefit from clean energy investments through new good-paying jobs and improved energy security.
This funding is provided due to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, managed by the Department of Energy. The goals of this program clean hydrogen include investing in America’s workforce, jumpstarting local economic growth, and creating good-paying, union jobs as we build a clean energy economy, improving energy security, and tackling climate change

Projects funded under this funding opportunity are expected to include a Community Benefits Plan to:
- Support meaningful community and labor engagement;
- Invest in America’s workforce;
- Advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility; and
- Contribute to the President’s goal that 40% of the overall benefits of certain federal investments flow to disadvantaged communities.
